Abstract

The paper gives a detailed morphological account of the skull of Crocodylus biporcatus Cuvier, collected from the Pinjor Stage of the Upper Siwaliks and housed in the museum of the Centre of Advanced Study in Geology, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The species is a synonym of the salt water crocodile, C. porosus Schneider inhabiting India and Malaysia. The present attempt to study this species in India would be the second one after Falconer and Cautley gave the first account of the form in 1836.
