Abstract

Palkanmaradi 'Conglomerate' occurs as a conformable bed within the volcano-sedimentary sequence of the Hutti schist belt. Well-rounded pebbles of granodiorite/tonalite gneiss, microgranite/acid volcanic rock, angular to subangular fragments of amphibolite, are found embedded in a matrix having unusual chemistry representing probably an admixture of volcanic and sedimentary material. Along with the other rocks tbe conglomerate bed has suffered from three distinct phases of deformation and attained amphibolite facies of metamorphism.
