The Stratigraphy of the Kinnaur Tethyan Basin - A Reappraisal

Abstract

The geological database of the Phanerozoic Kinnaur Tethyan Basin in Himachal Pradesh is updated and its lower Palaeozoic lithostratigraphy revised to bring uniformity with the Spiti Basin. The paper also records the occurrence of middle Palaeozoic-Mesozoic rocks for the first time from the Baspa Valley. Some observations on the validity of certain fossil reports from this basin have also been made.
